APPARENTLY, my technology skillzzz are so remedial that i can't really figure out a way to stalk my study abroad friends (and comment on their misadventures) without creating a blog myself. which, back in milwaukee doing a lot of the same (though i contend that every day has opportunity for a grand adventure), makes me feel sort of like an 8th grade girl with lots of feelings. or maybe i should start referring to people back at MU by the first initial of their names and dish their deepest darkest secrets. ah but there's the rub, my name is already in the title of my blog, thus my identity can't be a secret and alas, our lives will never be a teen book series/ popular prime-time drama. i won't really keep this up unless anyone really wants to know - i'm more of an emailer, myself - but just so you kids know, life on the homefront is so good so far. i'm rocking some sweet classes including 20th century genocides, philosophy of education with one melissa shew, international political economy, and psychology of happiness (positive psychology mumbo-jumbo which i will "experience" with carlo and lizzie traudt, perfect) all of which will hopefully put me in a better place in mind mission and spirit. the fog machine is used in cambridge very regularly, and it's feeling like the old days with many more cameos from gordy, betch and mikael. rico and wimmer have joined the ranks of the 21 year-olds, and as you recall about milwaukee winters (and, i suppose, summers and springs and falls), binge-drinking is frequent and hilarious, there are funny stories and bruises abounding in the mornings, and funny people sleep funny places. the roommate situation is good - maggie quick is my new roommate for the semester - we get along well, though i'm having to avoid the discussions of post-capetown depression that are flooding maryland courts, as i don't need a reminder of everything and everyone great about rome and all the reasons i want to go back / see more of the world. advice to you aborad: grow and love and create, but don't associate all of that with a place or people. it's all IN you, you're just seeing it in a different way / getting the chance to explore yourself in your vulnerability. eh. you'll get it eventually. ah class.
oh, and yes, the title of this blog is a lyric to "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. i don't regret it.
